Dr. Winter earned his BA in history at Rutgers College, his D.D.S. from N.Y.U., and his Certificate in Periodontics from Columbia in 1976. Dr. Winter is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a member of O.K.U., (the national dental honor society), and did his dental internship at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center of Albert Einstein Medical School.

Dr. Winter taught clinical periodontics at the postdoctoral level for eleven years at Columbia, before switching to N.Y.U., where he holds the rank of Associate Clinical Professor. He is a past-president of both the Columbia Periodontal Alumni Association and the Northeast Periodontal Society.

Dr. Winter has published eleven scientific articles. He founded and, for many years, edited the journal "Periodontal Case Reports." Dr. Winter also serves as dental consultant for the national publication, "The Bottom Line." Married, and the father of five sons, Dr. Winter is a published novelist.
