In the early 1990s, site development techniques were introduced in the US and around the world that included sinus grafts and ridge augmentations. At the same time, Dr. Bruschi and Dr. Scipioni, along with Dr. Gaetano Calesini, developed their own solutions to expanding bone both in height and width without the need for bone grafts, membranes, or multiple surgeries based on surgical precepts taught by Dr. Odrich. These procedures – the E.R.E.™ (edentulous ridge expansion) and the LMSF™ (localized management of the sinus floor) – produced fewer complications with quicker healing times. Their results have been reported in the literature and scores of dental surgeons have been trained in these techniques in Rome by them and in New York by Park Avenue Periodontal Associates.
