History

In the early 1990s, site development techniques were introduced in the US and around the world that included sinus grafts and ridge augmentations. At the same time, Dr. Bruschi and Dr. Scipioni, along with Dr. Gaetano Calesini, developed their own solutions to expanding bone both in height and width without the need for bone grafts, membranes, or multiple surgeries based on surgical precepts taught by Dr. Odrich. These procedures – the E.R.E.™ (edentulous ridge expansion) and the LMSF™ (localized management of the sinus floor) – produced fewer complications with quicker healing times. Their results have been reported in the literature and scores of dental surgeons have been trained in these techniques in Rome by them and in New York by Park Avenue Periodontal Associates.

Faculty:
Drs. Gianni Bruschi and Agostino Scipioni received their medical and dental degrees from the University of Rome. In addition to being periodontists and implantologists, they are trained in prosthetics, endodontics, and oral surgery. Dr. Scipioni began his career as a dental technician and has extended his expertise to include light and electron microscopy. Dr. Bruschi periodically returns to Boston to lecture where he was on the faculty of Boston University’s Henry Goldman School of Dentistry for 2 years. Drs. Bruschi and Scipioni have authored numerous papers* and lecture extensively on implants in Europe and around the world. They have been partners since 1975.

During their dental careers, they have taught at universities and hospitals, published several articles*, and been involved in many dental organizations. They work in close collaboration with Drs. Bruschi and Scipioni, and lecture in the US, Canada, South America, and Europe on dental implants. They publish an acclaimed newsletter that can be viewed on line at: www.ParkAvePerio.com
